Great food and excellent service. Had the Cajun pasta and butternut squash soup. Kinda pricey, but worth it.

We recently held the reheasal dinner for our daughter's wedding here and were really impressed by the food which was fresh, tasty and not over-seasoned. Many of us ate the blackened cod which was perfectly cooked. The bread pudding was absolutely delicious, not too sweet and soaked in rum. My husband doesn't like bread pudding, but he loved this. The atmosphere is fun. The service was professional and everyone had a great time. I would definitely go back.

Some local friends told us to check out Fontenot's during our visit to Winter Park. Since my better half is a non-meat eater, we checked out their menu, saw a good seafood selection and gave it a try. Good choice! Great food (see below), good prices (especially coming from DC), friendly staff and efficient service. The decor is sparse, but given that it's located in a strip shopping center, just fine. Since we went on a Saturday night, I called ahead to make sure we could get a table. The hostess let me know that reservations for small parties (2) weren't necessary....BUT there was a group of 40 descending upon them around 7:30. Thanks to her friendly heads-up we made sure to get there by 7 and avoided the rush of orders that would surely crush their kitchen staff. Although they couldn't seat us immediately, we quickly found a couple of seats at the bar, ordered drinks and got into a great conversation with a long time local. After being seated a few minutes later, we ordered up some Fried Ocra, Cheese & Beer soup, Cod Lafayatte & the Ahi Tuna. With the sole exception of the soup, every dish was simply sublime. The only reason I didn't dole out 5 stars was due to the cheese & beer soup. I like trying new dishes and try to keep an open mind about different foods, but it really wasn't my cup of tea...or soup as the case may be. If you're from Wisconsin or a lover of melted Velveeta you may have been in heaven....but no matter, we feasted heartily on the rest of our food...and even saved some Ocra for another day. Most importantly, the fish was really good. The tuna was fresh, perfectly seared and delicious. Thinking about the Cod Lafayatte as I write this is making my mouth water. 'nuff said. Enjoy!

Fontenot's is one of two restaurants I love to eat at when I visit Winter Park. I make sure to arrive before 6 for a happy hour hurricane. My favorite is the blackened Atchafalaya catfish dinner and I splurge the extra $2 for a cup of gumbo. Might be on the pricey side, but well worth it! I never have room for dessert, but am told their bread pudding is pretty tasty.

Got here and waited 10 minutes for no service. The waitress walked passed our table several times and went to a near by table 3 times without the least bit of attention towards our table so we left. Pretty lame.

Price value/tastiness: We ordered the crab and crawfish cakes (2 per order) and the risotto fritters (4 per order) to start. The cakes and the fritters weren't very big and weren't worth the price. The fritters were warm and the sauce was cold. The presentation of the appetizers was terrible. It looked like someone vomited on the plate. Just straight up messy. For the main courses, we ordered the seafood bake which came with fish, scallops, vegetables and mash. The veggies looked like they were previously frozen and the presentation of the bake was not appetizing at all. The scallops and fish just sat in a pool of oil. We also got the ribs and shrimp. The ribs were cooked alright (all you have to do is cook it long enough) however everything on the plate was covered/drowned in barbecue sauce. Could barely taste anything besides the sauce. Again, terrible presentation. Experience: The experience was alright. The waitress was alright. She was nice, not super attentive and no wow factor. Ambiance was ok (because it was New Year's Eve) but again, nothing special. Overall, we feel we paid significantly more than we should've and the experience wasn't good enough for us to come back.

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy summer day, just wanted something simple. I had broccoli cheese soup and a Cuban sandwich. Both were delicious. I also had an amber beer from New Orleans which was great. My husband had gumbo and a salad with fried shrimp and was very happy with his choices as well. It was a quiet weekday, and service was good, decor is pretty. We would go back!

A beautiful restaurant, quiet and intimate around 6pm on Wed. I ordered the mussels which were too salty, but a substantial size for an appetizer. The fried green tomatoes were OK. Chicken foulouse was tasty but forgettable (reminiscent of chicken bryan from carrabas). The catch of the day (mahi mahi) blackened and ribeye were both well prepared. Everyone finished their dishes and we ordered the bread pudding for dessert which did not disappoint (I was very greatful there weren't any raisins in it!).

Excellent meal. So delicious I wish I had come earlier in our vac week because I would have gone twice. Best mussels we've ever had and the Fontenots Scallopini was scrumptious! And it didn't cost a fortune. Price was a match for the meal. Definitely will come again the next time we're in Winter Park.

My experience here was one of the best. The staff was courteous the food was over the top amazing. Well worth the $$. We started our evening with fried green tomatoes(to die for) and then I got their mahi mahi with shrimp Diablo sauce, mixed vegetables and then some of the tastiest mashed potatoes ever. The environment is casual with fine dining experience. Well worth the visit.

Went for brunch on Mothers Day. It was the regular brunch menu they offer....lots of benedicts and breakfast burritos and traditional breakfast stuff. Cute place, attentive service, tasty food. There was a jazz duo playing and they were fine, but the music they played was so loud we couldn't have a conversation at our table. That's my only gripe about the place. We will for sure go back, but not on Sunday's when they have the live music...

Excellent food and service definitely recommend. Pecan crusted catfish out of this world. Ask for Stephanie the advise on the menu was on point. Great service great food. Second time here and both times were great.

We had dinner there Christmas Eve. The risotto fritters are amazing. The Steak Oscar was also very tasty. The wait staff was very friendly. We enjoyed all the food and we will definitely go back. It isn't the cheapest place in town but dinner for two and a bottle of wine will set you back 120. Well worth it.

My wife and i went there on the recomendation from the Post Office .. We had a great lunch... The Gumbo was outstanding.. My wife had the Chicken Caprese salad with fried cheese balls..WOW.. Do not go for brunch. Despite the resturant being less than 1/2 full it took almost an hour for our food to come. As our 2 and half year old got restless we asked how much longer and was told "You just have to be patient". When the food did show up it was cold.

Was an ok experience, I had the burger at a seafood grill so I could not expect too much. Nothing exception nothing horrible, decor was nice. It was an average meal. I would go again

Superb. Good selection of wines, fresh dinner salad with delicious basil vinaigrette, good French bread. The blackened catfish with crawfish étouffée and fried shrimp entree was amazing. Came with mashed potatoes and veggies. Delicate but rich flavor. I've had a lot of Cajun food in my life and this place does it right. Husband had the chicken fried chicken which was also delicious, especially the andouille gravy, which I dipped my fried shrimp in too. Highly recommended restaurant in Winter Park!

We chose Fontenot's for our date night since my husband has never been there. I like the setting here with it's facade of old homes with flower pots and windows. They could have a rocking Mardi Gras party here. We started with the sampler plate of sausage, fried green tomatoes and fried okra. I liked okra and green tomatoes. Next we ordered a cup of gumbo and sweet and sour beef soup. My sweet and sour beef soup was unusual and full of flavor. It was our favorite item we ordered. We ordered the Southwestern Cobb and the Steak salad. We both thought they were ok. I so wanted the coconut curry soup my friend had last time. Please send me a message if you ever make it again- I will come in! I like your soups Fontenots.

Dinner on a slow Monday. Pleasant service, pretty good fried okra, good boulibase, drinks not weak. On the pricey side for the area, but not outrageous.

I usually avoid seafood in the mountain towns. It is either very expensive or very bad. Despite that history, we gave Fontenot's a shot. We tried to get reservations, but it seems they took the phone off the hook... We drove over and only had to wait about 10 minutes on a Saturday night around 7pm or so. The bacon wrapped scallops were great. All of our dishes were very good, and the prices weren't too high for seafood in the mountains. The atmosphere was nice, not too cheesy despite the pseudo New Orleans vibe. Service was good too.

This is one of the best brunches the Winter Park area has to offer (and I've eaten at many of the "breakfast places" in/around town). Don't overlook their weekend brunch - lots of benedicts, the beignets are to die for, and other great selections, as well. Great bloody's!! Being that Fontenot's isn't typically considered a "breakfast" establishment, they shouldn't be overlooked on this fact alone. If people knew what they were missing, Fontenot's might start offering brunch throughout the week!

    (5)
  • Stephanie J.

Fontenot's recently added breakfast. My friends and I went in on Sunday and it was delicious. I recommend starting with the Bread Pudding Beignets. They were unbelievable. Then we treated ourselves to the bucket of mimosas. They give you a bottle of champaign and a carafe of OJ to make your own mimosas. We all had the crab cake benedict. I'm picky about my hollandaise and I wasn't disappointed. It's homemade! We all commented on how good the potatoes were. Usually I forego the potatoes that come with breakfast but these were so flavorful I ate them all. Next time you are in Winter Park on a weekend, don't forget Fontenot's has breakfast. You won't be disappointed!!

Recently had brunch, we both had the Eggs Benedict and they were fantastic. Really liked that they were served on French bread instead of an English muffin...nice touch! Have been eating dinner here for years and it never fails to be great service and food. Others might say it's a bit pricey, but it is in a resort town and I feel the prices are right where they should be compared to other nearby restaurants. Also, if you're there during warm weather, I highly recommend the deck!

My wife and I both got food poisoning after eating here last night. We had kettle chips, gumbo, a chicken dish, and a Caesar salad. We felt sick within hours and are still sick over 18 hours later. We notified the manager by phone and expressed our concerns. Apparently he is an infectious disease specialist because his reply was that it was impossible for us to have symptoms of food poisoning in less than 24 hours. Please beware!!

First thing that upsets me, why do u have a kids menu and high chairs if u have no diaper changes. Family places should have diaper changes they do not cost that much! Second my child got a cup of milk it was half our drink but yet all drinks were $2.50 including child's drink. Third the food is bland and lacking flavor. It a new orleans style restaurant, do not copy Cajun if u can't serve it! Being from louisiana I really expected more. This upsets me as its not true food from the Cajun culture. Last, we never got refills on drinks ran out during our so called meal, so service was not very good, not to friendly either. I have not lived in Louisiana in over 4 yrs, I've lived in 6 diff. States across the US, but I can tell you this place is a joke?

    (1)
  • Claudia I.

Food was good but expensive. The service though was really slow. We waited at least 30 minutes for our salads, then another 30 for the main, then another 30 for the check...

Who would have thought there'd be something this tasty and unique in backwoods Winter Park. The decor makes you feel like you're outside in warm New Orleans, and the food was a great surprise. Good recipes, good presentation. Great service too. We were very satisfied. The gumbo helping was enormous, and the salads were tasty. Should be your first choice for a one night stay in WP.

We went here for happy hour with our three young kids. The food was great (though a bit on the spicy side for our kids) and the service was even better - they didn't mind at all that we primarily ordered from the happy hour menu and were just really friendly and accommodating overall. The pork sliders were great. Will definitely return.

Pretty good seFood restaurant in Winter Park. I had the salmon special with red pper sauce and a potato pancake. My husband had the coconut shrimp which had a great coconut flavor and was not greasy at all. Not sure if it's authentic Cajun but pretty good seafood for a ski town restaurant.

After a hike on the Fraser River Trail my wife and I stopped for the Happy Hour at Fontenot's. We were nicely greeted and took a seat at the bar and ordered a couple of excellent Bloody Mary's. I had the mussels, very fresh with a delicious broth perfect for soaking up with the freshly made garlic bread and my wife had the chicken taco's. We spoke with Chris the Chef while he was drawing beer from the tap to use for the slow cooked pork. He explained it cooks overnight. Can't wait to try it next time! Loved the food ,service and ambiance, looking forward to coming back the next time we're in Winter Park.

Go here and get the Bourbon street catfish! Fried catfish with peaches! Absolutely amazing! Sadly I'm going home next week and won't be able to come back. So if you are near, go and get it! Now!

Pretty good restaurant! I really enjoyed the food, def cajun flare. Fried Green Tomatoes were awesome and if you like Okra, its good here too. Their encrusted Tilapia was amazing and the crab cakes were also top notch. Service was good, and the place was surprisingly empty for all that it was a Saturday night at 8pm when we went. Seems like a lot of families. I will say that the appetizer portions were small, and the presentation was really nice. It seems like they're trying to give off a classy appeal with classy prices in a casual joint in a casual town.

Fonteot's had suprisingly good seafood on the Friday night that we visited. Seafood in the mountains is always a little questionable, but we all enjoyed our dishes. The special of the night was a Jamaican Jerk salmon - cooked nicely so that it was still tender. I took advantage of the grilled mahi mahi which came with a berry sauce that complemented the grilled flavor well. The other diners in our group enjoyed the bouillabaisse and the bowl of gumbo. The wine list is decent and the service was friendly and prompt. For a nice, yet relaxing meal, add Fontenot's to your list. Prices range $12-$28 with most full size entrees in the $20 range.

We ended up at Fontenot's as a result of a miscommunication. Really nice atmosphere. Waitstaff was very friendly. My mother is from New Orleans, so I know what New Orleans food is supposed to taste like. I had the Rajun Cajun Combo (crawfish étouffée and blackened catfish). The étouffée tasted nothing like a real Louisiana étouffée. The fish, however, was delicious. The fried shrimp had what looked and tasted like tempura batter, totally inappropriate for New Orleans seafood. The entree was definitely not worth $25.00 (but considering the venue, I can understand why they price it so high). I was quite disappointed in the food, but I ate it anyway. EDIT: The crawfish étouffée was served over mashed potatoes. What the? You serve étouffée over RICE.

**3.5** stars, really. In fairness to the slow service, they did have a "Help Wanted" sign on the front window. Knowing it was too much food, we started with fried okra and fried green tomatoes. They came out each on a large platter, half of which was taken by a remoulade pond. Our favorite was the fried green tomatoes - sweet and tart and juicy, held together with a killer breading with fresh herbs. In hindsight, I should have ordered the Fried Green Tomato Po'boy. The okra was delicious too, however the cornmeal breading didn't have the fresh herbs that made the tomatoes that much better. My Crab and Crayfish Cake Po'Boy was delicious. They bake their bread in house each morning and it shows. Perfect amount of chewiness on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Already feeling the effects of our deep fried smorgasbord, I only needed one of the cakes to fill my sandwich. Wholly satisfied, I was also salivating over our neighbor's fish tacos... His jambalaya special was tasty, as well, served atop a bed of rice. The dinner menu seemed to have most of what is offered for lunch, minus the expansive Po'boy selection, but also carried with it a pretty steep price jump. Would definitely make a repeat visit and try those fish tacos..

Highly recommend this place. Best restaurant we tried in Winter Park. We only tried their seafood and it was all excellent. Fresh tasting and perfectly cooked. The chili crusted scallops were spectacular. Our server was excellent and very professional. Nice, formal atmosphere that you bring the kids to or go out on a date. For appetizer try the seafood sampler. A welcome change from the ubiquitous burgers, steak, and pizza in Winter Park.

  • Amy N.

Not very good. Lemonade tasted like country time. No colorado beers available here!! The gumbo was nothing like a real gumbo (my hubby's from NOLA). The poboy was ok but had too much mayo. Also the poboy doesn't come with fries and the waitress didn't offer. The children's menu had Kraft Mac n cheese and Smuckers uncrustables, lol!

First time to eat dinner here after visiting the area for years. We got there about 5:30. We were seated promptly. Our service was very good. The fried okra, green tomatoes and andouille sausage was our starter. I had the fried catfish, crawfish etoufee and fried shrimp. Husband had Two filets of Alaskan cod blackened and served with shrimp sautéed in garlic, capers, tomatoes and fresh basil. One son had their kobe beef burger and the other had Fontenot's Seafood Bake, a selection of Alaskan Cod and Atlantic Sea Scallops baked in white wine, butter, and garlic topped with crispy bread crumbs. All were fresh and very good. They also provide a basket of rye and white bread. Again, our service was very good. I think it was due to the fact we got there a little early on a Friday night. There was a party of 6 next to us that got their drinks, but got up and left after they said they waited 30 min for their server to take their order. I have seen in other reviews that the service is slow. If they could pick that up a bit I believe they would have more 5 star reviews. It's the only thing holding them back. I would also sit on their patio next time too. It was very nice. We will be back for sure.

    (4)
  • Mark Z.

The food was mediocre at best. This is the type of place that can only stay in business in a tourist town with a steady stream of one time customers. Despite the Cajun name and menu items, the chef has obviously never visited Louisiana as nothing was remotely authentic.

    (2)
  • Washington I.

Solid place. Good food. nice atmosphere. Friendly. The price is appropriate. In ask area without many choices this is a good one.

  • Bluey H.

This place is an absolute gem. Did not expect to find such a unique, affordable, and "foodie" place in a resort town! The Cajun touches and decor are great. Loved the breakfast Benedicts (Southern Bennie with fried green tomatoes no less), the seafood (so obviously fresh), the drinks...and don't forget the homemade French bread. Silky, chewy, hot out of the oven. I would go back just to buy the bread.

We arrived on an early April saturday evening. We had a party of six. We were seated promptly, no reservations, and experienced a wonderful hostess. We ordered apps, then our main course and were pleasantly pleased to have wonderful service. We ordered from both the childrens menu and the main menu and all of the food and appetizers arrived promptly and all were the correct temperature. The meals generally were good, one exception was the steak tips. They were a bit too heavy with salt and I believe vinegar to make them enjoyable. otherwise all was good. I guess if i were to go again I would not order the steak tips.

This was the nastiest food me, my husband, and 2 friends ever ate! We ate there on a Tues night thinking it was going to be a fabulous dinner, but we were very mistaken. I ordered the special which consisted of a four cheese tortellini, scallops, and shrimp. I love tortellini and sea food, but whatever they served was disgusting! My friend ordered rack of ribs, thinking it was a safe bet, and he threw up shortly afterwards. I'm still very upset about going to this restaurant. The environment was lovely, and the food was presented beautifully--it's just such a shame that the food didn't match up. I'm still very angry that we paid so much for the horrible tasting food.

    (1)
  • Shirley V.

The only thing worse than the overpriced food was the service. Our appetizer was undercooked, appetizer plates never cleared out of the way. My salmon was so raw it was just about still flipping around on the plate. My husband's burger was mediocre and the fries were straight from a freezer bag. We waited about 30 minutes after we were done trying to get our check and get out of there. We paid $75 for 2. One of the worst dining experiences we've ever had.

  • Kasy A.

I've been in the Winter Park Valley since 1995 and this is STILL one of my favorite places to eat and recommend to tourists. The dinner is a bit pricey, but the lunches are perfectly priced for proportions and the quality of the food. It's hard not to spend about $15 per person at lunch though, because once you find your favorite po'boy and pair it with a cup of gumbo and a side of the most amazing cornbread, you've already spent well over that! But it is sooo worth getting! I'm craving it right now! My favorite po'boys are the fried green tomato and the fried shrimp. The Kobe Beef burger is the best in town, but the crab and crawfish burger is to die for! If you're ever in Winter Park, this should absolutely be the place you eat at, because once you try it, you'll crave it each and every time you come back!

  • Dave T.

We ate lunch on a weekday. My wife had gumbo and to our surprise and complete dismay it had TOMATOES in it. What a sacrilidge! That alone tild us that this place isn't real Cajun. I can't say anymore.

I thought I was in New Orleans! Great food, friendly staff, friendly owner, and decorated just like places on Bourbon Street/French Quarter. The owner even allowed me to sample the Shrimp Dynamite/Dynamite Shrimp and I've got to go back and get the full meal! Check it out.

  • Karen H.

Great variety and range of prices on their menu. We ordered from the Lighter Fare portion of their menu and enjoyed a $10 Caesar salad combo with their soup of the day, a large bowl of New England clam chowder which was delicious! Then we treated ourselves by sharing a yummy dessert, Bananas Foster! Also enjoyed the New Orleans atmosphere!

Legit seafood in the Colorado mountains. Nice place, with creative decor. Good service. We tried the gumbo, which was okay. I had the blackened sea scallops with fries. The scallops were pan-seared, sweet, tender, and not over-cooked. The fries were thin, and crisp. My wife had the salmon filet with cole slaw. The salmon was also not over-cooked, and tasted very good. The slaw was on the vinegary side, crisp, and perky. Parking is easy,

I've been coming to Fontenot's through three locations, since the late 80s. If I spend 3 days in Winter Park and Tabernash (Mary Jane for lift-served, Devil's Thumb Ranch for leg-powered), I'll probably eat a lunch and a dinner here. High points: po'boys, fried green tomatoes. Low points: TVs are always on, and you can end up with a table full of fried if you don't watch out. There are a lot of ski parkas around the dining room --- good mellow place to stretch out after a day on the snow.

This New Orleans flaired restaurant was a nice find! I had the blackened salmon and my wife had a pasta dish. We had all kinds of appetizers as well and all was high quality. I even ordered a wonderful Bonesmasher Red Zin and it was great and jammy. The prices were very reasonable. Beth, our waitress, was extremely friendly and helpful on things to do and other places to dine while in town. Out of Denos, Strip and Tail, this place was our favorite. The other two places mentioned are worthy to hit while in town too.Strip & tail had a guy playing sweet tunes on a guitar. It was a little cramped but family friendly. The wines were very reasonable at Fontenot versus the other two. Deno's had an extensive wine list but were $10-$20 per bottle more than Fontenots in general. ex. Orin Swift Prisoner $ 65 vs $75. Pizza Peddler at base had solid grub but limited on beer selection. It seemedo like all the locals praise Hernandos Pizza & pasta. We just didn't have time to go there. Hope this helps!

Tried brunch at Fontenot's for the first time -- it was so good! Unique and tasty! I had one part crab cake Bennie one part fried green tomato Bennie- both were delicious! Also, the home-fries were perfectly cooked and spiced. Oh and one last thing--- the mimosa was also excellent! Def recommend!

Fontenots is a New Orleans restaurant in Winter Park, CO. Sounds strange but their Shrimp Po' Boy is better than any I ever had in NO. I think it's better for lunch than dinner (you can't get Po' Boys at dinner), but the seafood entrees are great. Try the Bread Pudding - it's outrageously good!

Whenever we are in Winter Park, we always eat here. It never disappoints. We went here this week during happy hour and it was delicious. We got $4 hurricanes that were awesome. We had fish tacos, pulled pork sliders and other great food from the happy hour menu and for dinner we had Norweigen Salmon. Just simply an awesome place to eat.

Our family loves Fontenot's in Winter Park. We have eaten there quite a bit over the last 2 1/2 years and we've never been disappointed. The food is delicious and service is wonderful. Winter Park CO wouldn't be the same without it!!

I love this place. It's always clean, the food is great, the service attentive without being oppressive, and it's authentic Cajun cuisine. I have been in Winter Park three times this year, and keep coming back to Fontenot's. I recommend the poorboy sandwiches, the gumbo with blackened cod on top, and the bread pudding. The Cajun blue cheese salad dressing sounded better than it was. The Caesar was very good. Other than that one small complaint, I'm an enthusiastic fan. I'll come back nearly every time I visit Winter Park.

Food was expensive and gumbo not good. It cost extra to put in andouille and other items that should be there. The base tasted like tomatoes instead of a rich roux.

Visited in March, 2010. We were in the mood for something a bit spicy and found Fontenot's. "Hey, wow...Cajun food in Winter Park?!" Okay, we gave it a shot. The wait staff was very kind to us and provided ample service, but overall the food was a bit bland to be considered cajun. When I asked for the etoufee to be "very very very very spicy" it was given to me with only moderate spices (of course I like things really hot, so I may not be a good gauge of things). The key lime pie was good and the food was a decent value for the price. You could check this out if you're looking for watered-down cajun food.

I'm amazed that a restaurant as long-established as Fontenots, and with such a great reputation, has not been reviewed by any of the thousands of diners who have eaten there over the past 17 years. To help those of you vacationing in Winter Park make at least one dining choice, let me put that right. One true test of a restaurant's popularity is how long it has been in business. Pretty much all Resort restaurants - regardless of standard of food or service - can do well in winter and peak summer time periods, but in order to survive, it has to rely on the local population to sustain it during the slow times. Fontenot's truly is a local's favorite, and has been since 1990. Further, scanning down the list of restaurants in Winter Park, even though in some cases a new restaurant has come along and taken its place, the following are no longer in business: The Shed, Fiesta Jalisco, The Kitchen, Moffat Caf, La Taqueria, Rome on the Range. I remember my first year in the valley - winter 1991 - joining a line of hopeful diners stretching from outside the entrance along the sidewalk, in blizzard conditions, waiting to be seated inside. The place was packed, but the food was so good people would rather endure this short-lived hardship than go elsewhere. Fontenot's has gone through an expansion and two moves within the town of Winter Park in search of a better location but ultimately an improved dining experience for their patrons. Now situated in Kings Crossing Place on the Main Street of Winter Park, Fontenots is the complete opposite of pretentious and ostentatious, and epitomizes the Winter Park state of mind providing a laid-back, small town friendly atmosphere. Owned, managed and run by local families since inception, you can be assured of friendly staff and great tasting food. Dubbed a "fresh seafood and grill", Fontenot's has stayed true to its roots by maintaining the Cajun mentality - in both dcor and menu items. Lunch has always been probably the #1 choice for locals over the years, with fabulous soups, the traditional Gumbo, and an array of Po'boys (Louisiana style sandwiches on homemade French bread) including catfish, oyster, lobster, tilapia, scallop or shrimp to name but a few. For dinner, my favorite appetizers are shrimp dim sum, fresh crap & crawfish cake and the coconut shrimp - but that's just me. Highly recommended entrees are the Cajun surf & turf, the rajun Cajun combo (fried catfish, crawfish etouffe and fried shrimp) or the Acadian lobster pasta. Listen closely to the specials and the catch of the day, as these may well sway you from the menu! Prices are very reasonable, considering this is predominantly a seafood restaurant. Lunch ranges from $7.00 to $12.50, apps $6.00 - $13.00, and the norm for entrees is in the $18.00 - $24.00 range, $32.00 for the S&T. Fontenot's focus is on a friendly, relaxed and casual dining ambience, with great tasting hearty meals and should be on your list for at least one restaurant choice during your vacation.
